Picasso at the AGO

From May 1st  to August 26th, 2012 the AGO is going to be presenting the (very famous) works of Mr. Pablo Picasso.

Here's the fun part: if you're a member, you get to see it early, this weekend FOR FREE!

So, when are you going?

A wealthy man commissioned Pablo Picasso to paint a portrait of his wife. Startled by the non-representational image on the final canvas, the woman’s husband complained, “It isn’t how she really looks.” When asked by the painter how she really looked, the man produced a photograph from his wallet. Returning the photo Pablo observed, “Small, isn’t she?”

Staying Alive with Living Foods

The "Clean Me" Juice blend in my fantastic re-usable container

As many of you may have garnered from my previous posts (or, rather, lack of posts), I have just completed another set of final examinations.  Yes, for 2 whole weeks I was bent over my notes and under the general wave of anxiety that accompanies these necessary things.  The good news is that every exam period gets better and better because I discover little tricks to make it so.

This time, my little secret weapon was a 15 day raw food challenge from Cruda Cafe (you may remember me purchasing said challenge from Living Social in this post).

For 15 whole days, I got fed purely organic, raw meals that did 2 things:
1. Nourish me so that I could focus and do well on my exams
2. Save me time and money!

The Living Food chefs at Cruda Cafe in St. Lawrence Market are a lovely bunch; they are all incredibly passionate about fresh, healthy food and they don't mind telling you about it!  My favorite Cruda friend was excellent at making suggestions and she lead me on to my favorite dish of theirs: the Sweet Potato Mesquite Sandwich! Apart from their passion for food, Cruda is also very dedicated to the environment and a stipulation of the food challenge is that you bring your own containers to cut the waste of countless take-out containers, which I'm completely all for!

Without further ado, please feast your eyes on a portion of my raw feast.  Remember, my amateur photography skills don't do them nearly enough justice and they definitely tasted a million times better than they looked--and wouldn't you agree that they look quite fantastic?

The quick and dirty: Mosey on down to St. Lawrence Market and check out Cruda Cafe to try that crazy Sweet Potato Sandwich!  They also offer raw food "uncooking" classes, for those of you who want to master these fresh dishes!

Still studying....

Only 2 exams left to go!

The universe knew I needed some happy after a particularly exhausting Pharmacology exam, so it sent me this adorable little video that I now post for your enjoyment.  And just when you thought the world was getting a tad boring, a bunch of 5 year olds decide to cover The Ramones.

See you on May 1st.

 Happy studying!

All you need is love

The city of Toronto may rival Paris as the most romantic city in the world.  Well, okay, not really but I have been surrounded by lots of love lately and have documented it in photos for your viewing pleasure. Also, it's exam time again so my posts will return to their former glory around May 1st.  Promise.
